burning rain of death...

Daylight savings time went into effect yesterday and I must say, this is such a great idea. As a result, my winter doldrums have pretty much gone out the window (I enjoy using cliches in writing, get used to it). I decided to celebrate my good mood by planting some seeds on my patio. The patio itself desperately needed some TLC, so I was happy to comply. I got some seeds at a local dollar store. You can see my choices here:

I am aware that if they grow enough, my little pots will not be large enough to handle carrots and squash, but let's just see how big the plants get before we get ahead of ourselves.

The plant on the left was a gift from my parents. They got it at some sort of duck show, and there was even a little toy duck on a stick in the original plant pot. I have no idea where that duck is, and I also have no clue how to get this plant back in fighting shape. I think watering it might be a good place to start.

More pots. I also went through a phase where I was pinning a lot of mason jar crafts on Pinterest, so I saved a few of my own to plant seeds in. The little plant in the yellow pot was from last year. It is still holding on like a champ.

Finally, a view from my little backyard. My patio is just enough for me. At my old house I had a big yard and it was quite overwhelming. I just want to be whelmed.

I plan on writing about all the different parts of my home, probably once a week. Reminding myself of how lucky I am to have a home I enjoy is always a good thing.

  1. Ok RL - we have to chat gardens and how your stuff is growing! I am finishing my chicken coop and got some of my seeds to start (I am all anti-GMO so ordered from an organic seed farmer and have a shitton and happy to share). Rock out girl - your patio looks good!

  2. Thanks Lils! As you can see, they aren't growing all that much. I actually have never planted vegetable seeds, only flower seeds, so I really don't know what I am doing. Hopefully, having a blog will keep me accountable! As for your chicken coop, that is ambitious!
